Since the fall of Roe and the announcement of our Carbondale clinic opening up, we have received an influx of support, and we’re so thankful! Like everyone in reproductive health, justice, and advocacy, we are disheartened with the outcome of the SCOTUS decision, and we see folks wanting to do more. Many of our supporters have asked, “how can we help?” There are many ways to advocate for reproductive rights and justice, and one thing everyone can do is to support abortion funds.
Abortion funds have been around for many years, serving individuals who need assistance with finances, lodging, childcare, transportation, and more. Now that abortion access has become limited in many states, especially in the South, supporting these abortion funds and practical support organizations is more critical now than ever. There are many abortion funds and practical support organizations – here are a few that CHOICES loves!
ARC Southeast is an abortion fund that provides financial and logistical support to ensure Southerners receive safe and compassionate reproductive care, including abortion services.
Midwest Access Coalition is an abortion fund that assists people traveling to, from, and within the Midwest to access a safe abortion by assisting with travel coordination and costs, lodging, food, medicine, childcare, and emotional support.
Abortion Care for Tennessee (ACT)
Abortion Care for Tennessee is an abortion fund that serves all people in Tennessee. Instead of funding individuals directly, ACT provides funds to select clinics that provide abortion services.
Chicago Abortion Fund serves people by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change.
Kentucky Health Justice Network
The Kentucky Health Justice Network has a support fund that consists of volunteers who help people seeking abortions with financial assistance, transportation, interpretation, and more.
Together we will make it through this difficult moment and ensure that everyone who needs an abortion is able to get one.
