As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I know firsthand that the healthcare system in our country is challenging for patients to access and understand. CHOICES: Center for Reproductive Health, located in Midtown Memphis, wants to make reproductive and sexual health care more affordable for our community.
After the state enacted abortion bans in 2022, Tennessee forfeited its eligibility to receive federal funding for family planning services (also known as Title X funding). Mississippi-based organization Converge, Inc. is stepping in to help. Converge believes all people should have access to quality, affordable reproductive and sexual health care. Converge provides federal funding to clinics in Tennessee and Mississippi, so patients can access care without breaking their budget.
Thanks to a new partnership with Converge, CHOICES is now able to offer an array of family planning services to patients at a low cost. Since starting this program in April, over 500 patients have received family planning services at deeply discounted rates. Programs like these are exactly the reason I came to work for CHOICES. I want to help more people access affordable healthcare in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
